Liebster

Yay!!!! The first award! Jessy of Barefoot in the Snow gave me the Liebster Award. Thanks so much Jessy!!!

So… what you have to do is~

Thank and link back to the person who nominated you…

List 11 facts about yourself…

Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you…

Nominate 11 bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers (you can’t nominate the blogger who nominated you)…

Ask them 11 questions…
Let them know about the nomination.

Here are my eleven random facts:

1. I love pasta a lot. And I like it not too soft. But I’ll eat it any way.

2. I can’t stand eggs. Okay, okay, I’ll eat them poached…sometimes.

3. My great-grandfather was a coal miner in eastern Kentucky.

4. My younger sister is at least four inches taller than me.

5. I think I broke two of my toes this morning, because I’m always banging my feet on things. Owww…

6. I love Australian accents. And Scottish accents. And North English accents. And regular English accents. And accents. Oh, and did I say accents?

7. I’ve been in only one play in my life: Our Town.

8. I can play the guitar just a wee bit, and I want to get better.

9. I like Leo Tolstoy a lot better than Dostoevsky.

10. I like bagpipe music. A lot. I like pretty much anything Scottish. Except haggis- how can anyone like haggis.

11. I’ve survived a tornado.

Okay, now for Jessy’s eleven questions…

1. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where is the first place you’d go? Why?

Scotland. Because it’s so… Scottish. The scenery. The accents. The kilts. (Need I go on?)

2. If you could travel anywhere in any universe (fictional or otherwise), what specific place would you visit first? Why?

I’ve always really, really wanted to visit Narnia. Because… ohhh, I guess because it’s beautiful.

3. Do you have a favorite Bible story/character/verse? Who/what is it?

Ummmmm…. there are so many. I suppose I am inspired most right now by Paul the apostle, from reading Romans again for the story I’m working on. I love the story in Acts about the nephew of Paul warning him about the Jews’ vow not to eat until they had killed him. And then Paul is quietly escorted out of the city by the Roman soldiers (Acts 23:12-35). It’s a neat story.

Well, I don’t really have a favorite verse (there are so many…) but this one is really good:

“The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” ~Romans 5:20-21

4. Would you ever consider eating octopus ink pasta with squid? (I’m a bit obsessed with this question right now…)

NO. No no no no. Never. Ever. In spite of my abiding love of pasta, NO.

5. Have you read The Book Thief? What is your opinion on it? Favorite quote/scene? (You may mention the movie if you’ve seen it, but try to keep the movie spoilers to a minimum.)

Ummm, I haven’t read it. Or seen the movie. So I guess I don’t have an opinion on either.

6. If you suddenly found yourself in a do-or-die situation, what would it be?

I don’t really know. Okay, I’ll make one up. Ummmmm….. I can’t think of any. Oh, maybe eat that octopus pasta.

What single item would you want to have with you?

Someone to bury me and do the funeral. Yes, I’d rather die.

7. Quotes are lovely things. I’ve got an entire blog devoted to them. Post a favorite or three [for me to use]. (if I use any, I’ll link to your post as the source and tell you when it publishes)

Okay.

Never let a fool kiss you or a kiss fool you. ~Someone That No One Knows the Name Of who was quoted in Boy Meets Girl, by Josh Harris

She did most heartily grieve over the idleness of her childhood; and sat down and practised vigorously an hour and a half. ~Emma, by Jane Austen

You’ll be the same person next year except for the books you read and the people who influence you.

And one more, for good measure:

A good book on your shelf is a friend that turns it back on you and remains a friend.

8. What is your favorite type of blog post to read? {Beautiful People, Stacking the Shelves, ramblings, [original] writings, character posts…}

I love Beautiful People. A lot. And ramblings too.

9. What’s the first thing you do in the morning, after you attempt to wake up and actually get out of bed?

Umm, for now, shower. But when the school year starts I’m thinking of changing that to… something else.

10. What is the worst book you’ve ever read?

Umm. The one that comes to the top of my head is this book called Catharine, Called Birdy. It’s really crude and not worth reading. Ohhhhh, I know there are more… but I can’t think of them. I’ll wake up in the middle of the night and say, oh, I should have mentioned THAT book!! How could I have forgotten it?? Anyway…

Most of the books I read are books for school. We do a curriculum called Sonlight that is literature based and they pick really good books. I’m surprised that Catharine even got on the list.

Oh yes, I just remembered one of the worst book! (I told you that would happen!) Ender’s Game. That one is… just… awful. I mean, I suppose the story is good but the language and crassness is disgusting. I couldn’t finish it. I never will.

11. Can you swim? Ocean, lake, creek, or pool?

Yes, I can swim! I haven’t ever taken swimming lessons or anything, and I can’t swim all that great, but I can stay afloat. Pool and ocean… and maybe a lake if it’s not too dirty.

Okay, now I’m supposed to nominate eleven bloggers with fewer than 200 followers.

I don’t know eleven bloggers.

Okay, let’s see what I can do.

I nominate:

Miss Jane Bennet of Classic Ramblings

Miss Evie Brandon of A Period Drama Fan-Girl

Ummm,

Eva of Ramblings of a Janite

Chloe of Blooming Maiden

Naomi Bennet of Wonderland Creek

Okay, that’s five. This is not working.

Hayden of The Story Girl

Lianne of Lianne Taimenlore

Okay, that was seven. That rhymes with eleven!! There’s really no one else I can find (and I admit that I used Miss Jane Bennet’s follow list to find these bloggers). So, I need three people to do this award. If you can drive, you are awarded.

I would really appreciate it if you would link to your answer post in the comments. That is, IF you accept the award. This was hard. Really hard. But fun. 🙂

Thanks again, Jessy!

*Edit*: Since writing this, I realized that I didn’t ask eleven questions! I’m kind of tired and stressed; can’t you tell?

Anyway!!!

Here are my eleven belated questions:

1. Do you like chocolate? What kind?

2. Who is your favorite actress and why?

3. What is your favorite movie seen in July?

4. Have you ever been to Scotland?

5. Roses or orchids?

6. What are two things on your wish list? (I mean things to buy)

7. Are you writing any stories currently? If so, what are they about?

8. How long have you been blogging?

10. What is your favorite book you’re currently reading?

11. Are you glad this list is done? 🙂

~
